The Kandy Day Tour will commence from either Colombo, Negombo, or Kandy. After your breakfast in the hotel, the tour will start around 7.30 a.m. The first stopover will be the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, and then you will visit the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens. After that, you’ll have lunch before going to see the Kandy Cultural Dance Show. After that, your last visiting place will be the Temple of the Tooth Relic. The journey will end with a flight back to Colombo or Negombo, or with a drop-off at a hotel in Kandy.
Kandy is the capital city of the Central Province of Sri Lanka. It is 447 meters above sea level and 116 kilometers from Colombo. Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage
This is the first place you will visit during your one-day trip to Kandy. It is 12 kilometers from Kegalle.It is the main elephant conservation center in Sri Lanka. The place is home to more than 80 elephants. You can watch every kind of elephant in Sri Lanka at different ages. Their feeding begins at 8.30 a.m., and their bathing begins at 10 a.m. These two activities will entice you, and you can participate in them as well. This is a fantastic place to watch Sri Lankan elephants.
Peradeniya Botanical Garden
Peradeniya Botanical Garden is the largest botanical garden in Sri Lanka. It is 5 kilometers from Kandy and 108 kilometers from Colombo.The elevation is 460 m, and the land area is nearly 147 ha.
Peradeniya Botanical Garden is one of the must-visit places during your Kandy Day Tour. It contains more than 4000 plant species, including medicinal plants, spice plants, and many other rare species. The orchids and other flowers also attract visitors. This is a fantastic place to stay and enjoy nature.
Kandy Cultural Dance Show
The Kandy Lake Club Cultural Dance Show is a must-watch where you can observe Sri Lankan traditional dancing. It is also stimulated by art and cultural heritage. These dances can be observed in the Kandy Esala perahera. But after the festival, here is the show, and you can observe those dances.
Temple of the Tooth Relic
The Temple of the Tooth Relic is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Sri Lanka. It is one of the most significant places for Buddhists all around the world. The Tooth Relic of the Lord Buddha has been enshrined here, and therefore, a lot of Buddhists visit this place regularly.
The Tooth Relic of the Lord Buddha was taken to Sri Lanka by Prince Dantha and Princess Hemamala almost 2000 years ago. Then the tooth relic was established in Kandy because the area was the last kingdom of Sri Lanka. It is the most important place you will visit during your Kandy tour.
