Sigiriya Rock Fortress
Some consider Sigiriya to be the world’s eighth wonder. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is situated a few kilometers away from Dambulla. Historians believe that it was constructed by King Kashyapa in the 5th century AD. During your Sigiriya tour, you will be lucky enough to climb the rock fortress. Its height is 660 feet. The top view looks fantastic, and you can see the remains of an old palace there. The gardens, water technology, mirror wall, paintings, and urban technology are wonders to see in Sigiriya.
Dambulla Cave Temple
Dambulla Cave Temple Complex is another UNESCO World Heritage Site in Sri Lanka. There is a modern temple that is called the “Dambulla Golden Temple. The whole complex is situated near Dambulla. This is considered the largest and well-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka. There are more than 80 caves in the surrounding area, but the attraction goes to five major caves. From those caves, you can see a large number of strata and ancient paintings. Historians also believe it is the place where prehistoric people lived before 2700 years ago.
Spice Garden
The National Spice Garden in Matale is a place where you can see a large variety of Sri Lankan spices. This includes pepper, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, ginger, cardamom, etc. You can learn how they cultivate, grow, harvest, and process here. There is a shop where you can buy high-quality spices, traditional remedies, and natural cosmetics.
Matale Hindu Temple
Matale Hindu Temple, or someone called “Sri Muthuman Amman Kovil,” is a Hindu religious and cultural place in Matale. It is a fabulous place that is open to all kinds of religious people. According to Hindus, the place has been dedicated to “Mariamman, the goddess of rain and fertility. It was founded in 1874 and rebuilt in the 1980s.
The tall, ornate structure known as the “Gopuram,” which can be seen from afar, it contains hundreds of sculptures that show the beauty of Hindu architecture.
