Sri Lanka wildlife tour is designed especially for travelers with wildlife enthusiasm. You should note that Sri Lanka is a great destination to explore wildlife. There are so many wildlife sanctuaries around the country. Our wildlife tour includes 13 days, including 12 nights. You will visit several major wildlife sanctuaries in central and southern Sri Lanka. You will also be lucky to explore marine wildlife during this tour.

Day 1 – Airport to Negombo
You will be warmly welcomed by The Rahmaholidays at Katunayake Bandaranayake Airport. The representative will work as your chauffeur for the entire wildlife tour in Sri Lanka.
Next, we will drive to the city of Negombo, where we will check you into a beautiful hotel. The city is very close to the airport, and it is a beautiful coastal city in the western part of the country. You will spend the first night at the hotel.
Day 2 – Negombo to Wilpattu
This is the day you will actually start the Sri Lanka Wildlife Tour. After breakfast in the Negombo Hotel, we will travel to Wilpattu from Negombo.
The Anawilundawa Wetland is designated as one of the six RAMSAR wetlands in Sri Lanka. It has a total area of 1397 hectares and is a beautiful bird-watching spot. After that, we will reach the Wilpattu hotel to rest and finish the second day.
Day 03 – Wilpattu
We have planned a full-day safari to Wilpattu National Park on this day. After breakfast, the safari tour will start at Sri Lanka’s largest national park. It is the place where you can watch so many wild animals in Sri Lanka. “Willus” is a common feature of this park, where it got its name.
Wilpattu is world-renowned for its leopards. We should say that it is a great place to watch Sri Lankan leopards. Apart from that, you can watch other wild animals like the Sri Lanka elephant, the Sri Lankan sloth bear, the Indian rock python, the mugger crocodile, the Sri Lankan jungle fowl, the peafowl, etc.
After the safari, we will come back to the same hotel in Wilapttu for the overnight stay.
Day 4 – Sigiriya
Today, we will travel from Wilpattu to Sigiriya. We will reach Sigiriya in the afternoon, and then we will visit a traditional village there. Here you can see the normal village life of Sri Lankans. You will also be lucky to have an authentic rice and curry meal.
After that, we will travel to Minneriya National Park for the evening safari. The national park is so popular for its abundant elephant population. In the dry season, 100–200 Sri Lankan elephants gather there, and it is considered the largest elephant gathering in Asia.
After the safari, we will come to your hotel in Sigiriya for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 5 – Sigiriya to Kandy
On the 5th day of your wildlife tour, we will climb the famous Sigiriya Rock Fortress in the morning. Some consider Sigiriya to be the world’s eighth wonder. The top of the rock is fully covered with many ruins. Historians believe that this was the palace of King Kashyapa, who ruled Sri Lanka in the 5th century. The architecture, garden technology, paintings, and mirror are wonderful to see. The top-of-the-rock view is also fantastic for anyone.
After rock climbing, we will travel directly to Kandy. After a few hours of driving, you will attend the Kandy Cultural Dance Show. It is organized by the Kandy Lake Club, where you can watch many cultural dances from Sri Lanka.
We will come to your Kandy hotel for dinner and overnight stays.
Day 6 – Kandy to Nuwara Eliya
We will begin our nature trial at Udawattakale Forest Reserve on the sixth day of your Sri Lanka wildlife tour. It is a small sanctuary situated in the city of Kandy. This is a calm and cool location where you can relax and enjoy nature. Udawattakale is a small sanctuary with 405 plant species, 81 bird species, and 21 snakes.
After the udawattakel, we will next visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic. It is the place where the left canine of the Lord Buddha has been established. As a sacred site for Buddhists, a large number of devotees come to worship. then you will next visit the Peradeniya Botanical Garden. It is another beautiful garden near Kandy. Here you can observe 4000+ plant species, including beautiful flowers.
We will next travel to Nuwara Eliya from Kandy. Along the way, we will stop near a beautiful waterfall for a few minutes. Then later, you will come to your hotel in Nuwara Eliya to finish the day.
Day 7 – Nuwara Eliya to Ella
Starting from Nuwara Eliya Hotel, you will visit Horton Plains National Park on this day. It is the country’s highest national park, with elevations ranging from 2100 m to 2300 m. Horton Plains encompasses nearly 3160 ha of montane grassland and clouded forest. This is another popular tourist attraction with many beautiful places to watch. The World’s End and The Bakers’ Fall are the two main attractions among them. The Sri Lankan Sambar deer is a common animal that you can observe throughout the park.
After Horton Plains, we will board your train to Ella in the evening. Thereafter, our driver will pick you up at the Ella railway station. Next, we will check you into a beautiful hotel in Ella for an overnight stay and dinner.
Day 8 Ella to Tissamaharama
On the morning of this day, you will first visit Ella Little Adams Peak. It is a small mountain with one hour of hiking. The top view of this mountain is absolutely fabulous. You can take some amazing shots to publish on Instagram. Your next visiting location is Nine Arch Bridge. It is an old bridge that was built by the British in the early 20th century. There are nine arches and no steel on the bridge.
Thereafter, we will travel to Tissamahrama from Ella. Along the way, you will stay near a beautiful waterfall called “Ravana Ella.” You will check into the Tissamaharama Hotel for the night.
Day 9 – A Day in Tissamaharama
The 9th day of the Sri Lanka Wildlife Tour is fully dedicated to Yala National Park. We will do a full-day safari tour, and it will start after your breakfast in the Tissamaharama Hotel. On this tour, you can see many reptiles, mammals, and birds.
Yala National Park is the second-largest national park in Sri Lanka. It is also famous for watching leopards. It is thought to have the highest leopard density in Sri Lanka. As well, you will commonly see sloth bears, Sri Lankan elephants, buffalos, and deer.
After spending the full day in Yala National Park, we will come to your Tissamaharama hotel for dinner and the night.
Day – 10 Tissamaharama to Udawalawe
On the 10th day of your wildlife tour, we will travel from Yala to Udawalawe. We will first reach your Udawalawe hotel, and then the itinerary has planned an evening safari to the Udawalawe National Park.
This is another famous wildlife sanctuary with abundant wildlife. It is situated in the Uva and Sabaragamuwa provinces. Udawalawe is a great place to watch Sri Lankan elephants. Then you will come to the hotel for your overnight stay.
Day 11 – Udawalawe to Mirissa
Today, you will travel from Udawalawe to Mirissa. Now, you are reaching the coastal side of southern Sri Lanka. Mirissa is a fishing village with many tourist attractions. We will visit the famous coconut tree hills and Mirissa beach. After that, we will come to your Mirissa Hotel to spend the night.
Day 12 – Rest at Southern Beach Mirissa
On the morning of this day, you will visit the Indian Ocean to observe its marine wildlife. We have planned an amazing whale-watching tour for you. On this tour, you can see different kinds of whales, dolphins, and other marine animals.
You will spend the evening at the beach and hotel with a leisurely mind. The night will be spent at the same hotel in Mirissa.
Day 13- Mirissa-Airport Drop.
This is your departure date. We will travel from Mirissa to Katunayaka Airport. It takes about 4 hours to get there, and your chauffeur will safely drop you off there before your flight departs in 2-3 hours. So, that will end your Sri Lanka wildlife tour with us.
